Maruti Suzuki is setting ambitious targets this festive season, aiming to deliver around 51,000 cars over the two-day Dhanteras period. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales at Maruti, stated:
We anticipate delivering around 41,000 cars on the first day, followed by approximately 10,000 on the next. This will be our best-ever Dhanteras, surpassing last year’s record of 42,000 units.”
Maruti’s smaller cars, including the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, and WagonR, are in high demand, with 94,000 bookings coming from entry-level models alone. The introduction of GST 2.0 has made these smaller cars more affordable, significantly boosting Dhanteras 2025 car sales.
The combination of festive cheer and favorable pricing has led to long queues outside showrooms, with many customers choosing to purchase their dream cars during auspicious timings. Maruti is even keeping its showrooms open late into the night to cater to eager buyers.
Hyundai Sees 20% Rise in Festive Deliveries
Hyundai Motor India is also riding high on the festive wave, expecting around 14,000 deliveries, which is 20% higher than last year. Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai, highlighted the reasons for this surge:
The strong surge in demand is fueled by the festive excitement, a thriving market, and the benefits of GST 2.0 reforms. We are seeing strong demand, especially for our SUVs like the Creta, Venue, and Exter.
Hyundai’s emphasis on mid-sized SUVs and stylish designs has clearly resonated with buyers. With Dhanteras falling on a Saturday, deliveries are spread across multiple days, allowing more customers to take advantage of auspicious timings.

Tata Motors Riding the Festive Wave
Tata Motors is another major player expecting a strong festive performance. The company aims to deliver over 25,000 vehicles during the Dhanteras-Diwali period. Amit Kamat, CCO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, explained:
Deliveries during Dhanteras and Diwali are planned over two to three days to align with auspicious timings.”. Demand has been robust, and GST 2.0 reforms have provided additional momentum.”
Sub-4 metre SUVs like the Nexon and Punch are proving extremely popular, as the 18% GST slab and removal of compensation cess have made them more affordable and attractive to buyers. Tata’s combination of practicality and festive timing is contributing significantly to this year’s Dhanteras 2025 car sales.
GST 2.0: Driving Record Sales
The implementation of GST 2.0 has been a game-changer for car buyers:
Smaller cars (sub-4 metre models) now fall under the 18% GST slab, down from a combined 29–31%.
Bigger and luxury cars now attract 40% GST, reduced from 43–50%.
