Kia EV2 Unveiled Globally Impressive Smallest EV SUV with 448 km Range

New Delhi: Kia has officially revealed its newest electric SUV, the Kia EV2, in the global market. With a starting price of €26,600, it becomes the most affordable model in Kia’s EV portfolio. Positioned as a compact urban SUV, the EV2 is built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP platform and aims to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience.

Design and Styling

From a design perspective, the EV2 carries Kia’s latest styling language while taking inspiration from its larger electric siblings. The SUV features a bold and upright stance with a slightly boxy silhouette, giving it a strong road presence despite its compact size.

At the front, it gets a modern version of Kia’s signature ‘tiger-face’ design, paired with vertically stacked split LED headlamps. The upright nose and rugged body cladding further enhance its SUV appeal.

Along the sides, the cladding continues seamlessly and merges into the rear design. At the back, low-mounted tail lamps create a clean tailgate look. A slim rear windscreen and roof-mounted spoiler add to the contemporary and aerodynamic styling.

The interior design is clean and minimalistic, highlighted by a two-spoke steering wheel and a clutter-free dashboard layout.

In terms of features, the EV2 comes equipped with a Harman audio system, digital key 2.0, and advanced charging technologies such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G).

Battery, Range and Charging

The EV2 comes with two battery pack options:

• 42.2 kWh LFP battery (Standard Range) – up to 317 km range
• 61 kWh NMC battery (Long Range) – up to 448 km range

Both versions support DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes

Launch Timeline and India Expectations

Production of the standard range EV2 is expected to begin in Q1 2026, while the Long Range and GT-Line variants will follow by June 2026.

As of now, Kia has not officially confirmed the launch of the EV2 in India. However, the compact electric SUV segment is growing rapidly in the country, with models like the Tata Punch EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV gaining popularity.

The EV2 has also been spotted testing in India, indicating that a future launch could be on the cards.
