TVS Motor Company has introduced a new model called Orbiter V1 in its electric scooter lineup. It is a basic or entry level model that has been launched to make electric mobility more affordable for buyers. The TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter has a starting price of Rs 49,999 (ex showroom Delhi) when purchased with the company’s Battery As A Service (BaaS) model. Under this system, the scooter is available at a lower price while the battery is provided through a monthly subscription.

Orbiter V1 is now the most affordable electric scooter in the TVS range and it is mainly designed for daily city commuting. It is suitable for short rides such as office travel, college trips or quick city errands where traffic and short distances are common. This launch expands the Orbiter lineup, which now offers two variants. The V1 variant gets a 1.8 kWh battery pack while the higher specification V2 variant uses a larger 3.1 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery option could attract first time EV buyers who are looking for a more budget friendly electric scooter.

One of the key highlights of the launch is the introduction of the Battery As A Service model. In this system, customers pay a lower amount when purchasing the scooter because the battery is offered through a monthly subscription plan. This reduces the initial cost and allows users to choose a plan based on their usage.

Buyers who select the BaaS plan can purchase the TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter for Rs 49,999 (ex showroom Delhi) with benefits from the PM E Drive scheme. However, customers who prefer traditional ownership without any subscription can buy the scooter at Rs 84,500 (ex showroom Delhi). Battery subscription plans start from Rs 862 per month and depending on the plan, the company also offers an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000 km.

In terms of performance, the TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery and according to the company it can deliver a range of around 86 km on a full charge. Charging has also been optimized for city use as the battery can reach about 80 percent charge in roughly two hours and twenty minutes. The scooter features an 845 mm flat seat which provides comfortable seating. It also gets a 290 mm footboard that offers good legroom for the rider.

The handlebar is designed in an upright position to provide a relaxed riding posture. In addition, the scooter offers 34 litres of under seat storage which can accommodate up to two helmets.

When it comes to technology, the TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter offers several modern features. It comes with a colour LCD display that supports smartphone connectivity. Riders can see incoming call alerts, SMS notifications and other important information directly on the instrument display.

The scooter is also compatible with a mobile application that allows users to check battery charge levels and vehicle statistics remotely from their phone. Connected features include turn by turn navigation, geo fencing, anti theft alerts and over the air software updates.

To make riding easier and more comfortable, the scooter includes features such as Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control and Parking Assist. It also offers two riding modes which are Eco mode for better efficiency and Power mode for stronger performance. In addition, regenerative braking technology helps recover some battery energy while braking.
