KTM RC 450 Revealed With 56 HP Twin Cylinder, Impressive Specs, Price And India Launch

KTM RC 450 comes with an all-new 450 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine featuring a 270 degree crank setup, producing 56 hp and 36 Nm of output.

The new RC 450 marks an important step for KTM as it enters the twin-cylinder 450cc category, at least for select markets. After earlier leaks, the motorcycle has now been officially launched in China. It expands KTM’s middleweight supersport lineup and promises a completely different riding experience compared to its traditional single cylinder RC models.

On the development front, KTM has collaborated with CFMoto for this project in China. The strong partnership between the two brands is clearly reflected in the motorcycle. The RC 450 shares several elements with the CFMoto 450SR, including its architecture and key components. At its core is a new 450 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank configuration.

For performance, the engine is tuned to deliver 56 hp of maximum power and 39 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6 speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slipper and assist clutch as standard. A load sensitive quickshifter is also included, enhancing its aggressive riding capabilities. The chassis setup is equally advanced, featuring a trellis frame and a distinctive single-sided swingarm.

Suspension setup includes WP Apex USD front forks paired with a rear monoshock. On the electronics side, it gets a Bosch sourced dual channel ABS system. The motorcycle rides on newly designed 17 inch alloy wheels, further enhancing its sporty stance.

In terms of design, the RC 450 clearly reflects KTM’s racing DNA. Sharp body panels, contrasting finishes and aggressive styling give it a true track focused appearance. In China, the pricing converts to around Rs. 4.7 lakh, placing it in a competitive position globally. If launched in India, it would directly rival the Aprilia RS 457.

However, KTM is working on a different approach for markets like India and Europe. Reports suggest that the brand is developing a new 450 cc twin-cylinder platform, separate from the current CFMoto-based engine.

This upcoming platform is expected to underpin future models such as the 450 Duke and 450 Adventure. Right now, the China spec RC 450 serves as a teaser of KTM’s next gen twin cylinder supersport plans. Indian buyers may have to wait longer, as a new global platform is reportedly being developed in collaboration with Bajaj Auto.
